LÖSEV’s Young Cancer Survivors Represent Türkiye at the Balkan Sports Games

Children supported by LÖSEV who have bravely overcome leukaemia and other cancers are preparing for an extraordinary experience. From 19 to 22 September 2025, in the town of Panagyurishte, Bulgaria, they will proudly represent Türkiye at the Balkan Sports Games – an international event where sport becomes a bridge of hope and resilience.

A Celebration of Strength and Solidarity

Organised by the DecaOHZ Association, the Balkan Sports Games bring together children who have completed cancer treatment. The aim is to encourage physical activity, highlight the role of sport in recovery, and create a powerful network of solidarity among young survivors from different countries.

Sports Disciplines

Throughout the event, our children will compete in:

  • 50-metre sprint,
  • Table tennis,
  • Chess,
  • Air rifle shooting,
  • Mini football.

These disciplines allow them to take part in both individual and team sports, offering new experiences and the chance to display their talents on an international stage.

More Than Just a Sports Event

For children who have beaten cancer, sport is more than competition. It builds confidence, supports psychological and social recovery, and creates lasting bonds. At the Balkan Sports Games, they will meet peers from across the region, make new friends, and show the world what resilience truly means.

Strengthening International Partnerships

LÖSEV’s relationship with the DecaOHZ Association began during the International Week for Children with Leukaemia. This collaboration now continues at the Balkan Sports Games, further deepening solidarity and shared purpose.

Beyond Medals: Hope and New Beginnings

For LÖSEV’s young cancer survivors, the Balkan Sports Games are not only about winning medals. They are about chasing dreams, expressing themselves, gaining freedom, and creating international friendships.

Their presence on the field will stand as a powerful symbol of the fight against cancer. When they return home, they will carry not only their sporting achievements but also unforgettable memories of hope and solidarity.

And in their own words:
“We know what it means to keep fighting.”
