The World Turned Orange During the International Week for Children With Leukemia

A Beacon of Hope for Children with Leukemia Shines from Türkiye to the World

Every year, from 2–8 November, the International Week for Children with Leukemia unites millions in compassion and awareness. This year, the campaign led by LÖSEV – The Foundation for Children with Leukemia resonated far beyond Türkiye’s borders, spreading a powerful message of hope and solidarity across the globe.

As part of the awareness initiative, orange – the symbolic color of leukemia awareness – became a universal emblem of unity and hope. Declared as “World Orange Day” on November 7, the movement inspired people from Canada to Germany, New Zealand to Africa, to come together in orange, showing their support for children battling leukemia.

Where There Is Hope, There Is Healing

Under this year’s theme, “Where There Is Hope, There Is Healing,” thousands of people dressed in orange, carried balloons and banners, and joined events to raise awareness for children with leukemia.

Across social media, the hashtags #HopeHeals, #UmudunAdıLÖSEV, and #PaintTheWorldOrange reached millions, turning digital spaces into walls of support and encouragement.

In Türkiye, Galata Tower, LÖSANTE Hospital, public buildings, universities, stadiums, and city squares lit up in orange, while Niagara Falls shone brightly as a global symbol of shared humanity and compassion.

Thousands of Orange Letters of Hope from Children

One of the most touching parts of this year’s campaign came through LÖSEV’s “İnci Project,” which engages schools across Türkiye.

From Edirne to Kars, students from public and private schools expressed their love and solidarity by sending hand-made orange cards, drawings, and letters to children undergoing treatment.

While young students learned about leukemia and its challenges, their heartfelt messages brought joy and strength to those fighting the disease.

From Türkiye to the World – A Global Message of Hope

The International Week for Children with Leukemia has now evolved into a truly global movement of awareness and empathy.

Volunteers and supporters from around the world — from Canada, Germany, and New Zealand to countries across Africa — joined LÖSEV’s call, wearing orange, organizing community walks with balloons, and sharing messages of hope on social media.

This growing wave of compassion has transformed LÖSEV’s message, “Paint the World Orange,” into a worldwide act of kindness — giving hope to children, strength to families, and inspiration to societies.

Led from Türkiye, this movement once again proved that hope can cross every border and unite hearts around the world.
